The 18th annual Reasons to Love New York issue of the New York Magazine was released with a Where’s Waldo-style homage to the NY icons of 2022. The visual immediately went viral on TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter, with people identifying who was included and who wasn’t, while expressing their love for this year’s cover.
This visual reminded us of this post we made last year, which tapped into a similar style featuring McDonaldsland characters.
So, less than 48 hours after the cover dropped we created our own version of the magazine cover by morphing the two ideas together! See attached for our take on this moment in culture.
We posted the image to our Instagram Story, which received just shy of 200k in reach. Typically in 2022, we’ve seen an average of 55k in reach on a photo-based story post, so that is huge! And to make this post even more exciting, the magazine reshared it to their Instagram feed, expressing how much they loved the reaction
