Facebook More Together: Rock & Kazoo

MediaPortland

"More Together" aims to celebrate the connections and stories of real people who share their moments of joy using Facebook Groups.

In its first-ever Super Bowl appearance, Facebook’s “More Together” campaign shows the breadth and depth of communities that exist within Facebook Groups to shine a light on real people connecting over shared interests.

With the help of Rocky legend, Slyvester Stallone, and comedian Chris Rock, the campaign heroes Facebook group members who relate to the word “rock,” whether it be rocket ships or rocking chairs, or swimming around The Rock in San Francisco, and many more scenarios, all set to the tune of Twisted Sister’s “I Wanna Rock.”

The ad is inspired by real people, real stories, and real groups, including the Moab Rock Climbers group, a craft cocktail club, and an experimental rocketry group. Whether it’s mass- appeal interests like music or niche passions like rock collecting, the message is whatever you’re into, Facebook has a group for you.

The Super Bowl ad “Rock” is one piece of Facebook’s broader marketing campaign that launched last fall that will continue on through 2020, including a kazoo-themed ad during the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards.

The “Kazoo” ad features bounce artist Big Freedia coming together with the International Kazoo Players Association Facebook group. “Kazoo” comes just ahead of the little-heralded National Kazoo Day, which also happened to be Big Freedia’s birthday.
