Ava Hegedus is a freelance writer and DJ whose mind is fixated on electronic music about 90% of the time. She has to block out the constant stream of beats, clicks, glitches and synthesized basslines in her head in order to get anything accomplished. She can explain the difference between Detroit electro and Chicago house, tell you why Berlin became the epicenter of minimal techno early in the new millennium and guess with startling accuracy how many beats per minute are in any song after hearing a three-second sample.

DJ Safi
DJ Safi got her start at age 14, buying records with babysitting money and spinning them on her high school radio station. The Japanese call her style “free soul,” which basically means she plays whatever she wants with no regard to genre. That being said, she has a deep, abiding love for underground rock, African pop, early American blues, third world cassettes and the entire Jamaican trajectory from mento to dancehall.

Dee Brown's Pumps
Taylor Twist is an art director and writer at Wieden+Kennedy in Portland, Oregon. After a stint in the agency's one-year ad school, W+K12, he has spent the last three years creating compelling communication for Nike, including work on the 2010 brand campaigns for both Kobe Bryant and LeBron James. This guy sure does love his food! Taylor can be found at Fuller's diner most days of the week. He recommends everything on the menu. . . chicken salad club sandwich, cheeseburger on white bread, strawberry shortcake, butterscotch milkshake and grilled cheese!

Adam Spring is employed as a high school teacher in Rhode Island. He currently teaches courses in sports management, sports marketing and business law. Adam also coaches both an NCAA Division III college tennis team in Providence and the girl's tennis team at his high school. (Three State Championships in the last four years. Dynasty?) He's also a 10-year New England Patriots season ticket holder. (Dynasty?) In reality though, he just tries to inspire people to do cool things. And he has his summers off. . .every year. Don't hate on him for it though!

The Perfect Cyn
On Unclassified, there is one goal: to bring you the music you can't live without. Host Cynthia Valenti has been destroying Portland dancefloors as a club DJ under the moniker The Perfect Cyn since 2003. Whether it's chunky steppy tech house, slutty low-slung techno or robotic electro, Cyn always serves up the best in cutting edge dance music. For Unclassified she'll be offering all of the above plus more, including the best in new releases from indie, electronic and pop bands, complete with her own humble live commentary. New on Unclassified is the "Desert Island Discs" segment, where guests play the top 5 tracks they would bring if stranded on a desert island, plus tell us why they can't live without them. Also featured are guest DJ mixes, live recordings from local electronic dance events, and DJ mixes of her own.

Lauren Ranke
Lauren Ranke stumbled on the Portland office in 1995 wearing hippie cutoffs, unshowered. She was hired that day and has spent the better part of the last 15 years growing up there. Her experience in Creative and Project Management eventually led to her becoming Creative Recruiter. She loves misshapen vegetables and people who know about physics.
